Vegetables can be a superfood for your dog—if you choose the right ones. In this video, Dr. Andrew Jones shares the top 7 (plus one bonus) healthiest vegetables for dogs and explains which “healthy” veggies should actually be avoided. Learn how carrots, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, celery, green beans, pumpkin, parsley, and dandelion leaves can boost your dog’s nutrition, improve digestion, support immunity, freshen breath, and even protect against disease.

You’ll also discover serving sizes, preparation tips, and the science-backed benefits of each veggie. From beta-carotene in carrots that may help prevent cancer, to pumpkin’s gut-friendly fiber, these simple foods can make a real difference in your dog’s health.

But not all vegetables are safe. Dr. Jones explains why too much broccoli, kale, or spinach can cause problems like stomach upset or bladder stones.

If you’ve ever wondered “What vegetables are good for dogs?” or “Can dogs eat cucumbers, sweet potatoes, or pumpkin?”—this video has the answers.

  1. Aren’t sweet potatoes potentially linked to some heart problems? I think the study is still out but I avoid just in case.

  2. Thanks for explaining each benefit of all of these nutritious vegetables. My dog loves sweet potatoes and cucumbers.

  3. It might help to remove the strings off of the celery and then cut it up. The strings could be a choking / coughing hazard if caught in their throat.
